With over 100 years of combined underwriting experience, the AH&GL team is comprised of talented professionals committed to delivering industry-leading distribution and underwriting services to a network of General Agents and carrier partners nationwide.

The AH&GL division of Aegis General Insurance Agency provides Managing General Underwriting services to A-rated insurance carriers specializing in Accident & Health and Property & Casualty solutions for Youth Sports and Special Events. In addition, the AH&GL team administers and markets a Supplemental GAP medical product for employer groups.

President

Patrick started his career in the Sport Accident and Health world over 30 years ago in 1992, first as an underwriter and then moving into sales and management for carriers, TPAs and MGAs. Patrick joined AGIA AH&GL in 2016 and has helped build the program from strictly Accident and Health to expand it’s products. AGIA now offers General Liability, Inland Marine, Excess, and D&O coverage. Patrick’s focus is to continue to expand AGIA AH&GL’s presence in the marketplace through growing its producer base. Patrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Politics from Pennsylvania State University.

Dan Hayden

Vice President

Dan joined AGIA AH&GL in 2022 as Vice President of Programs. In this role, he is entrusted with supporting the distribution, marketing, operational and underwriting objectives of his team. Prior to joining, Dan held roles on both the carrier and broker side of the industry in Claims, Risk Management, and Underwriting. Most recently, Dan led the Risk Management division of an award-winning, independent agency focusing on leveraging analytics, data, and value-added services to retain business and drive growth. Over the course of his 15-year career, Dan has been exposed to complex liability issues spanning a wide range of industries including construction, education, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate, and transportation. Dan graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

David Martin
Vice President of Underwriting

David’s insurance career started when he was working a summer job in college. There he began his insurance journey, initially in the claims field and then on to work for six major insurance carriers. Two of which were CIGNA and Mutual of Omaha. There he ran the A&H profit centers for non-employer groups, which included underwriting, policy administration, policy form filings and actuarial work. Through David’s experience, he can apply his prior knowledge to his field of underwriting today. His favorite aspect of his job as an underwriter is doing risk analysis and working with numbers.

Alyssa Panaia
Senior Program Administrator

Alyssa has over 12 years of experience in the health insurance industry and joined the AGIA A&H division in 2019. Her insurance career began right out of college at a local insurance FMO in the Harrisburg area and was designated to help facilitate and construct a Medicare department from the foundation up. While there she gained product knowledge in Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Part D Prescription Drug plans and senior ancillary products. She then went on to obtain her Accident & Health insurance license in the state of Pennsylvania and is certified in America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). As Program Administrator of the A&H Department, Alyssa oversees the GAP program and is enthusiastic about continuing to expand her knowledge in the insurance industry and organically grow in her career.

Christa Hord
Accident & Health Program Administrator

Christa’s insurance career began back in 2017 working for a broker managing personal and commercial auto insurance lines. She transitioned to Aegis General Insurance Agency in 2018 and worked for our P&C claims division until 2020, where Christa found her ‘home’ in the A&H department working as a Program Administrator. Christa handles many facets of the GAP program and works directly with producers and members to ensure a superior level of customer service. She has also taken responsibility for the department's marketing efforts to expand the GAP program and its online presence.

Ashley Morris
Program Administrator

Ashley Morris began her insurance journey in 2018 as a Customer Service Representative, honing her insurance knowledge and interpersonal skills. With a natural aptitude for teamwork, she quickly progressed to the role of Underwriter, where she evaluated applications for manufactured home policies. In March 2022, seeking career advancement, Ashley embraced the challenge of Program Administrator for the A&H department. In this capacity, she oversees policy premiums and facilitates new and renewing policies for Accident, Medical, and General Liability sectors. Ashley is actively pursuing her Associate in Insurance Services designation, further enriching her expertise in the field.

Maria Tavares
Program Administrator

Maria began her insurance career in 2003 working for a small notary and insurance agency in Bethlehem, PA. Her  excellent customer service and expertise enabled her to provide clients with the best products to match their coverage and pricing needs. At this agency, she gained knowledge in insurance, used critical thinking and developed her financial literacy. Maria ended up staying there for 19 years and highly enjoyed working directly with her customers. In November 2022, she began working for the A&H department as a Program Administrator and supports the accounting functions of the team.
